报告摘要: In Postmodern era, this study explored to compete the traditional Korean wood furniture through the development of unique consoles modified from Korean inherited Vandazi which had been used as a small chest. Today, in Korea, there is various furniture in style and design exported from America and European countries such as Italy, France, England, etc. The excessively exported pieces called antique furniture have identified the different tradition and wood culture of the countries and have been found much easier than traditional Korean furniture in Korean living life. Therefore, to compete against the foreign furniture, Vandazi chosen as an example had to be modernized by adapting itself to the modern living space for a stand-up living style. Among the exported antique furniture, the console like table is widely used in Korean living spaces. The newly-developed Korean consoles from Vandazi are distinct from the foreign consoles by representing their own identities in the traditional pattern like lattice and the unique wood like korean chestnut and ailanthus with differentiation from the foreign consoles, convenience in use, and economical efficiency. It is expected that the development of the Korean console through this study will make a turning point able to raise a market share of the  traditional Korean furniture which has not been regarded as competitive products in multicultural furniture market cross the world.
