摘要:Dance culture in the different region of the country can best exemplify the challenges and the triumphs of our people. ‘Sayaw sa Bangko’ (Dance on a Wooden Bench) depicted the need of a well-grounded foundation. Without the quality wood that the dancers are using, the beauty of the dance cannot be easily shown. At present dance instruction is marginalized and dancers are limited to few groups. It is the purpose of this paper to 1) describe the different characteristics of the dance movements; 2) determine the aesthetic value of the wooden bench, and 3) provide interest in dance education and dance culture at the community level. Qualitative approach is used in the dance research. Being a dancer and a dance teacher helps the movement analysis to be done. Video analysis is also conducted. Dance Educator has to awaken the interest of people by re-introducing exciting and creative movements which feature the educational, functional and cultural values of dance using wooden implements.
