Abstract:
The report will trace the tradition of wood craftsmanship and its evolution as applied in historic furniture and interior architecture through a trans-historical survey of form spanning the vernacular to colonial production practices. Key examples from each historic period will be discussed to illustrate how the Philippine aesthetic sensibility is expressed through the materiality of wood.

嘉宾简介：
Gerard Lico先生是菲律宾迪里曼大学建筑学院的教授，同时也是一位建筑师，此外他还是一位屡获殊荣的作家。他的作品涉及菲律宾建筑和文化研究以及前卫建筑展览设计和策展。他还监制制作了菲律宾建筑环境的纪录片。目前他担任菲律宾马尼拉大都会剧院恢复工作的建筑顾问。

Mr. Gerard Lico is a Professor at the College of Architecture, University of the Philippines Diliman. Apart from being an architect, he is the multi-awarded author of publications on Philippine architectureand cultural studies, designer and curator of pioneering exhibitions in architecture, and producer and director of documentaries on Philippine built environments. He is now working as the Consulting Architect for the Restoration of the Manila Metropolitan Theater.
