演讲题目:Typology of wood sculptures in West Africa
摘要:In Africa, the royal courts, traditional religions and initiation rites given birth to statues and masks. They use these sculptures to symbolize the immaterials: genies and figures of mortal or immortal ancestors.
West Africa gives large varieties of statues in wood find in West African markets and everywhere in the world.
This communication will present some West Africa sculptures (pictures). The different styles and particular points, these symbols of the culture and arts will be exposing.
Prof. E.C. Adjovi is Researcher in sciences of materials. He teaches the wooden constructions to the Ecole polytechnique of Abomey-Calavi Abomey-Calavi/University of Abomey-Calavi - Republic of Benin. He obtained a PH. D in Sciences and Techniques of Civil engineering at the Russian University of friendship of the Peoples of Moscow. He made studies of perfection in the research in sciences of the wood to the University Bordeaux 1 and to The Ecole polytechnique of Palaiseau. He was the scientific coordinator of the project of interuniversity cooperation of the University Agency of the Francophony " technological Research and development for the valuation of the wooden waste: case of shavings stemming from the processing of wood”. At present he manages a local team of research and development on the use of the biomasses of vegetable origin and some wood “Borassus aethiopum Mart “for the prod uction of new building materials.
