摘要:
There is a growing interest in deriving chemical products and functional materials from renewable feedstock to lower our reliance on fossil fuel while reducing environmental impact. Over the years, we have developed biorefinery pathways that can convert tree barks into a variety of bio-based adhesives, resins, polyols, and foams via extraction and chemical functionalization. By taking advantage of the distinctive properties of lignin, we have used bark-derived lignin containing nanofibril cellulose as functional materials for applications in biocomposites, energy storage devices, and gas sensors with excellent performance. An overview of these findings will be presented.
